Gallery: Craftsmanship in Wood, Metal and Engineering

This gallery shows a range of work I’ve carried out over the years — from modernist furniture and workshop tools to engineering projects — alongside my current focus on Velocette engine work.

I’ve always enjoyed making things that work well as well as look right. My interest in furniture and design came from my father, and over the years I explored modernist and Scandinavian-influenced styles using both solid timber and veneered work. Many of the pieces here were made with timbers rescued from previous projects, and I’ve always mixed traditional hand techniques with machine work when appropriate.

In my workshop I’ve also developed custom equipment and tools to solve problems I’ve encountered myself. These include benches, jigs and adapters for furniture makers, all designed to be practical, accurate and easy to use. Some are still in everyday use in the shop, and a few have found appreciative owners beyond it.

More recently, and for good reason, my principal work has moved toward Velocette motorcycle engine repairs and precision machining — that’s where most of my time and energy goes now. The engineering skills and workshop capabilities that support that work are the same ones that have always guided my making in wood and metal.
